FAQ: - Q: How do I choose a web development company in Denver? A: Ask three questions: who actually writes the code, how integrations and accessibility are handled, and what you own at the end. Directories and roundups rank well for this search but rarely answer it. Our comparison section above lays out freelancer, template shop, large agency, and senior-engineering options side by side so you can judge fit before you talk to anyone. - Q: What's the difference between web development and web design in Denver? A: Web design covers strategy, UX, and visual design, which is the work that decides how the site looks and feels. Web development is the engineering that turns that design into a working product using React or Next.js front-ends, CMS integration, APIs, performance, and DevOps. If you're primarily looking for design, visit our Denver web design page. If you need engineering or both disciplines, this is the right place. - Q: React developer in Denver: do you build SPAs and Next.js apps? A: Yes. React and Next.js are our primary front-end stack for Denver web development. We build server-rendered marketing sites, hybrid SPA/SSR applications, and client-heavy dashboards, and we're equally comfortable with the App Router, Pages Router, or Vite-based SPAs when Next.js isn't the right call. - Q: Do you build headless WordPress with a React front end? A: Yes: headless WordPress paired with a Next.js front end is one of our most common Denver engagements. Editors keep the familiar WordPress admin; visitors get a fast, statically-generated site. We handle the WPGraphQL or REST layer, ISR, preview URLs, and hosting so both sides stay in sync. ### Website Development Boulder URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/website-development-boulder Scope: Boulder — Boulder County Boulder web development studio building custom React, Next.js, Node, and headless CMS apps. Engineering-led, fast, and built to maintain. Included services: - React & Next.js Development: Custom front-end and full-stack builds in React, Next.js, and TypeScript: typed, tested, and maintainable by your team long after launch. - Headless CMS & API Integration: Headless CMS architectures (Contentful, Sanity, Payload) and integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, Algolia, and custom REST/GraphQL APIs. - Performance & DevOps: Core Web Vitals engineering, CI/CD on Vercel/AWS/Cloudflare, error monitoring, uptime, and hosting for production-grade Boulder sites. Pricing: - Bounded Build — $25K–$50K: A defined engineering scope: marketing site rebuild, headless CMS migration, or a discrete feature/integration. - Application Build — $50K–$150K: Custom web application, product configurator, portal, or headless commerce build against an existing design system. - Platform & Retainer — $150K+ / ongoing: Multi-quarter engineering ownership or embedded team for platforms, product surfaces, and multi-property builds. - Note: Retainers and staff-augmentation billed monthly. Nonprofit and B-Corp pricing available. FAQ: - Q: Do you handle design, or engineering only? A: This page covers engineering. We often build against a design system or Figma files your team (or another agency) already owns. If you need brand and visual design as part of the engagement, start on our Boulder Web Design page instead: same team, different starting point. - Q: What tech stacks do you build in? A: Our default stack is React, Next.js, and TypeScript on the front end; Node/TypeScript on the API layer; and headless CMS (Contentful, Sanity, Payload) or WordPress/Shopify when the CMS is the product. We deploy on Vercel, Cloudflare, or AWS. - Q: Do you build custom web applications, or just marketing sites? A: Both. Roughly half our Boulder engineering work is custom application code: product configurators, portals, dashboards, internal tools, and API-heavy integrations. The other half is high-performance marketing sites and headless commerce. - Q: Can you augment our in-house engineering team? A: Yes. We staff-augment, integrate into your Git workflow and code review, and hand off cleanly. We've worked alongside in-house engineers at Anark, Operational Systems, and other Boulder companies without stepping on the team. ### Custom Website Design Denver URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/custom-website-design-denver Scope: Denver — the Front Range Custom website design in Denver from a senior-led studio. Every proposal is fixed-fee, with no hourly surprises. Process: 1. Information Architecture & UX (2–3 weeks) — Page-by-page content model, wireframes for every unique template, and the conversion path mapped from first touch to inquiry. 3. Visual Design & System (3–5 weeks) — Art direction for the site, then key templates designed in full and extended into a documented component library covering type scale, spacing, color tokens, states, and responsive behavior. 4. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is selling you something else. - Q: Do you guarantee first-page rankings? A: No, and no honest agency does. Google's ranking systems are not under our control or anyone else's. What we commit to is a specific scope of work, a named list of target queries, and monthly reporting against them so you can see whether the investment is producing movement. - Q: What is the difference between technical SEO and local SEO? A: Technical SEO is about the site itself: can Google crawl it, is it fast, is it structured so pages compete. Local SEO is about the map pack and geographic results: Google Business Profile, location pages, citations, reviews, and proximity. Most Denver businesses need both, but the ratio depends on whether customers find you by searching a service or searching a service plus a place. ### SEO Services Boulder URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/seo-services-boulder Scope: Boulder — Boulder County Hooten Design + Technology provides SEO services for Boulder County businesses: technical SEO, on-page and content work, Google Business Profile and local search, and AI/generative search (GEO) readiness. Month one is a $3,500 audit and 12-month roadmap; ongoing work runs $2,000–$3,000 per month (Momentum) or $4,000–$5,000 per month (Aggressive). Boulder commercial queries are lower-volume but high-intent, so the program targets conversion-ready terms rather than raw search volume. Boulder SEO services from a studio that builds the site too. Technical SEO, AI search readiness, content, local search. Audit $3,500. Included services: - Technical SEO: Crawl and index diagnosis, Core Web Vitals work done in the code, schema and structured data, canonical and redirect hygiene, and internal link architecture that concentrates authority. - Content Architecture: Intent mapping to a real site structure, then pages designed to answer the search: technical explainers, comparison tables, and pricing clarity instead of padded blog posts. - AI / Generative Search (GEO): Readiness review and content restructuring for AI answers: quotable FAQ rewrites, comparison and spec pages, and correcting the places where engines are currently pulling wrong data about you. - Local & Map Pack SEO: Google Business Profile optimization, genuine service-area pages for Boulder County, citation consistency, and the review signals that decide local placement. Pricing: - Audit + 12-Month Roadmap — $3,500: Month one: a full audit and a prioritized roadmap for months 2 through 12. - Momentum — $2K–$3K/mo: Steady monthly progress on your highest-priority pages and content. - Aggressive — $4K–$5K/mo: Faster execution and broader coverage: recommended in competitive service markets. - Note: A custom Looker Studio executive dashboard: GA4, Search Console, Google Business Profile, and call tracking in one page: is priced as a one-time build plus a small monthly maintenance fee. Optional add-ons include recruiting PPC, service-promotion PPC, and product/comparison pages for AI results. Nonprofit and B-Corp pricing available. Process: 1. Baseline & Audit (weeks 1–3) — Search Console and analytics baselines, technical crawl, Core Web Vitals measurement, and a competitive gap analysis against the Boulder and Front Range companies currently ahead of you. 2. Local Foundations (weeks 2–4) — Google Business Profile optimization, citation cleanup, and a real service-area page plan for Boulder County. 3. Technical Implementation (weeks 3–8) — Index and canonical fixes, page speed work in the codebase, structured data, and internal linking that pushes authority into the pages that produce inquiries. 4. Content Production (ongoing) — Two to four substantive pages or posts monthly, designed rather than templated, each with a named target query and an internal linking plan. 5. Measure & Reprioritize (monthly) — Query-group performance, ranking movement, and organic conversions reviewed together, then the backlog reordered around what is actually moving. FAQ: - Q: How much do SEO services cost in Boulder? A: Month one is a $3,500 audit and 12-month roadmap. Ongoing work then runs at two tiers: Momentum at $2,000–$3,000/month, or Aggressive at $4,000–$5,000/month for faster execution and broader city-and-service pages. A custom Looker Studio reporting dashboard is a one-time build plus a small monthly fee. All fixed-fee. - Q: Is there enough search volume in Boulder to justify SEO? A: For local commercial terms, volumes are modest: a strong Boulder service query might see 100–200 searches a month. That sounds small until you consider intent: those searchers are actively hiring. The math works when your average project is worth thousands, and it does not work if you are selling a $30 product. For volume, we would point you at national category terms instead. - Q: How long before we see results? A: Technical improvements often show up in Search Console impressions within four to eight weeks. Competitive Boulder commercial terms typically take four to eight months of consistent work. Because the market is small, movement is often faster here than in Denver, but the ceiling is lower too. - Q: Do you optimize Google Business Profile? A: Yes: categories, services, attributes, photos, posts, Q&A, and review strategy. For Boulder businesses serving walk-in or local customers, Google Business Profile frequently outperforms the website for lead volume, so it gets real attention rather than a one-time setup. ### Boulder Digital Agency URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/boulder-digital-agency Scope: Boulder — Boulder County Hooten Design + Technology is a Boulder digital agency that pairs brand strategy with the technology to ship it: positioning, identity, UX, web and product development, SEO, and analytics. A: A digital agency connects strategy to execution across everything a customer sees online. In our case that means positioning and messaging, brand identity, UX and visual design, website and product development, and the SEO and analytics work that shows whether any of it is working. The point of using one partner is that the strategy set in week one is still intact at launch. - Q: How much does a Boulder digital agency cost? A: Most of our Boulder engagements run $5,000–$20,000 for a focused marketing site, $20,000–$75,000 for an integrated brand and web project, and $75,000+ for platform or enterprise work. We provide a detailed scope after a free discovery call so you can compare proposals clearly. - Q: What is the difference between a digital agency, a creative agency, and a branding agency? A: A digital agency, a creative agency, and a branding agency overlap in practice. A branding agency usually stops at identity and guidelines. A creative agency leads with campaign and visual work. A digital agency owns the technology as well. We do all three, which is why clients tend to come to us when the brand and the build have to be right at the same time. - Q: Are you based in Boulder? A: We're based in Lafayette, minutes from downtown Boulder, and work throughout Boulder County and the Front Range. Collaboration works in person at your office, over coffee on Pearl Street, or fully remote: most engagements are a mix. ### Denver Digital Agency URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/denver-digital-agency Scope: Denver — Denver Metro Hooten Design + Technology is a Denver digital agency combining brand strategy, design, and technology in one accountable team: positioning, identity, UX, websites and digital products, SEO, and analytics. FAQ: - Q: What does a digital marketing agency do? A: A digital marketing agency owns the channels that bring you demand: search, content, local visibility, and paid media, plus the measurement that shows whether the spend is working. Our version also includes the website itself, because most marketing programs are limited by what the site can do, not by the channel strategy. - Q: How much does digital marketing cost in Denver? A: Our engagements start with a $3,500 audit and 12-month roadmap, then run $2,000–$3,000 per month on the Momentum tier or $4,000–$5,000 per month on the Aggressive tier. Website design and build work is scoped separately, typically $5,000–$20,000 for a focused marketing site. - Q: Should I choose digital marketing or SEO? If you also need paid search, local visibility, content, and site changes coordinated together, the broader program makes more sense. - Q: How long before we see results? A: Technical fixes can show movement in Search Console within four to eight weeks. Competitive Denver commercial terms typically take four to eight months of consistent publishing and internal linking. Paid search produces lead data within about two weeks, which is why we often run both. ### Digital Marketing Agency Boulder URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/digital-marketing-agency-boulder Scope: Boulder — Boulder County Hooten Design + Technology is a Boulder digital marketing agency running SEO, content, local search, and paid-search support, plus the website work most programs are actually limited by. We offer nonprofit and B-Corp pricing on most engagements. - Q: How long does a nonprofit website project take? A: Most nonprofit web design projects run 3–6 months. Strategy and content modeling typically take 4–6 weeks, with design, build, and content migration filling out the rest of the timeline. - Q: Which CMS do you recommend for nonprofits? A: It depends on your team. WordPress is still the workhorse for content-heavy organizations with small marketing teams. Contentful or Sanity work well for teams comfortable with structured content. We help you choose based on the team you actually have, not the one a vendor wishes you had. - Q: Do you handle donation integrations? A: Yes. We integrate with Classy, Givebutter, Donorbox, Bloomerang, Salesforce NPSP, Engaging Networks, Raisely, and most modern fundraising platforms, plus custom donation flows when needed. ### Annual Report Design URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/annual-report-design Scope: United States (remote) Annual report design services from an editorial-first agency. Print, digital, and interactive reports for nonprofits, foundations, and brands. Included services: - Narrative Strategy & Editorial Planning: We help shape the year's story: theme, throughline, section structure, and pacing: before a single page is designed. - Art Direction & Photography: Original photography commissioning, photo editing, illustration direction, and creative oversight that makes each spread distinctive. - Print Annual Report Design: Full design and layout for print annual reports: type, grid, color, paper stock, and finishing. - Digital & Interactive Reports: Scrollytelling, interactive data, and web-based annual report experiences designed to live well beyond the print run. - Data Visualization: Charts, infographics, and visualized financials that turn dense numbers into stories a board or donor can absorb. - Brand Alignment: Reports designed to reinforce, evolve, or refresh your organization's broader brand system. Process: 1. Narrative and scope — We agree on the theme, throughline, section structure, page count, formats, and the deadline the report has to hit, usually a board meeting, gala, or grant cycle. 2. Content and data intake — We collect financials, impact metrics, program updates, photography, and quotes, then flag the gaps that need writing, sourcing, or shooting. 3. Art direction and design — Two editorial directions with real content, then full design and layout of the chosen direction, including custom data visualization and photo editing. 4. Review and approval — Two structured revision rounds with consolidated board and staff feedback, plus proofreading and fact-check passes against source documents. 5. Production and digital release — Prepress, paper and finishing recommendations, vendor coordination, press check, plus the accessible PDF and web or interactive version. FAQ: - Q: What do annual report design services include? A: Narrative strategy, content and data intake, art direction and photography, custom data visualization, full print design and layout, prepress and press supervision, an accessible PDF, and an optional web or interactive edition. - Q: What should we look for in an annual report design agency? A: Published editorial work rather than template layouts, real data visualization capability, production management through press check, and senior designers who stay on the project. Ask who actually does the layout and who attends the press check. - Q: How much does an annual report cost? A: Most annual report engagements run $8,000–$20,000 depending on length, photography needs, data visualization complexity, and whether a digital companion is included. We provide fixed-fee proposals after a short scoping conversation. - Q: How long does an annual report project take? A: Typical timelines run 8–14 weeks from kickoff to print-ready files. Digital companion versions add 2–6 weeks depending on interactivity. ### Shopify Migration Agency URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/shopify-migration-agency Scope: United States (remote) Shopify migration agency replatforming brands from Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and legacy stacks. Complex Magento or Salesforce Commerce Cloud replatforms with deep ERP integration can run longer; focused BigCommerce or WooCommerce migrations tend to ship faster. - Q: Will my SEO traffic survive the migration? A: If the migration is done right, yes. We treat SEO preservation as a first-class workstream: URL mapping, 301s, schema, metadata, internal linking, and post-launch ranking monitoring are part of every engagement. - Q: Can you migrate from Magento, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce? A: Yes. We regularly migrate from Magento 1 and 2, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, and custom platforms, as well as Shopify-to-Shopify Plus replatforms. ### Graphic Design Services URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/graphic-design-services Scope: United States (remote) Graphic design services from a senior print and digital firm. Annual reports, packaging, collateral, retail, and campaign systems. Included services: - Print Design: Annual reports, brochures, catalogs, sell sheets, and editorial layouts designed with real typographic craft and managed through press check. - Packaging & Retail: Consumer packaging, dielines, point-of-purchase displays, and retail signage built to hold up under production and shelf conditions. - Digital & Campaign Design: Social systems, email templates, digital advertising, landing creative, and presentation design that stay consistent across every placement. - Brand Collateral Systems: Stationery, sales collateral, signage, and templated assets that let internal teams produce on-brand work without a designer in the loop. - Trade Show & Environmental: Booth graphics, banner systems, large-format environmental design, and the supporting collateral that travels with them. - Production Management: Prepress, vendor sourcing, paper and finishing recommendations, color proofing, and press supervision on every printed piece. Pricing: - Single Project — $5K–$15K: One annual report, brochure, packaging system, or campaign asset set handled as a focused engagement. - Campaign / System — $15K–$40K: Multi-piece campaigns or design systems extending a brand across print and digital. - Brand + Collateral — $40K+: Comprehensive brand and collateral programs for organizations with broad, ongoing design needs. - Note: Nonprofit and B-Corp pricing available. Process: 1. Brief and audit — We review the audience, the message, existing brand assets, and any production or distribution constraints, then agree on scope and success criteria in writing. 2. Concept and art direction — Two or three distinct creative directions with real content, so you are choosing between approaches rather than reacting to decoration. 3. Design and copy development — The chosen direction is built out across the full piece or system, with copy refinement, photography direction, and data visualization as needed. 4. Revision and approval — Two structured revision rounds with consolidated feedback, ending in a signed-off, print- or platform-ready file set. 5. Production and delivery — Prepress, vendor coordination, color proofing, press check, and delivery of a packaged asset library plus editable templates. FAQ: - Q: What graphic design services do you offer? A: Print design (annual reports, brochures, catalogs, packaging), digital and campaign design (social, email, advertising, presentations), brand collateral systems, trade show and environmental graphics, editorial design, and full print production management. - Q: How much do graphic design services cost? A: Individual pieces typically run $5,000–$15,000. Multi-piece campaigns and design systems run $15,000–$40,000. Comprehensive brand and collateral programs start around $40,000. Every project gets a fixed-fee proposal after a short scoping call. - Q: What makes a graphic design firm different from a freelancer or marketplace? A: Judgment and continuity. A firm brings strategy, art direction, copy, production management, and senior review to every piece, and retains institutional knowledge of your brand across projects instead of restarting with a new person each time. - Q: Do you work with clients nationally? A: Yes. We are remote-first and work with brands, nonprofits, and B2B companies across the United States and internationally. Reviews happen over video, and production is coordinated with vendors wherever the work needs to land. ### Brand Collateral Design URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/brand-collateral-design Scope: United States (remote) Brand collateral design for national brands and nonprofits: sales decks, sell sheets, stationery, signage, and reusable templates. Pricing: - Focused Set — $8K–$20K: A defined group of pieces: sales collateral, a deck system, or a stationery suite. - Full System — $20K–$50K: A complete collateral program across print and digital with editable templates and usage rules. - Ongoing Partnership — Monthly retainer: Standing senior design capacity for new collateral, campaigns, and brand evolution. - Note: Nonprofit and B-Corp pricing available. Process: 1. Collateral audit — We inventory every piece in circulation, flag what's off-brand, outdated, or duplicated, and identify what's missing that your team keeps improvising. 2. System design — We design the grid, typographic hierarchy, color application, and image treatment once, then prove it across the two or three hardest pieces in the set. 3. Rollout — The system is applied across the full collateral set: print and digital, with copy refinement and production specs for each format. 4. Templates and handoff — Editable templates, usage guidelines, a packaged asset library, and a walkthrough session so your team can produce new material on their own. FAQ: - Q: What is brand collateral design? A: It's the design of the materials that carry your brand day to day: sales sheets, decks, stationery, signage, one-pagers, event materials, and digital templates. Designed as a coordinated system rather than as isolated requests. - Q: How much does brand collateral design cost? A: A focused collateral set typically runs $8,000–$20,000. A full collateral system with templates and governance runs $20,000–$50,000. We provide a fixed-fee proposal after a scoping call. - Q: Do you provide editable templates? A: Yes. Every engagement ends with editable master templates in the tools your team actually uses: InDesign, PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, Canva, or Figma, plus usage rules and a short training handoff. - Q: Can you work from our existing brand guidelines? A: Yes. Most collateral projects extend an existing identity. If the guidelines are too thin to support real production, we'll say so and scope the additions needed. ### Trade Show Booth Design URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/trade-show-booth-design Scope: United States (remote) Trade show booth design built on a strong creative concept. We reskin your existing booth and work with your fabricator so attendees stop, look, and talk. Included services: - Creative Concept: A single big idea built around your brand and the people at the show, explored in a few directions before anything goes to production. - Booth Reskins: New graphics for the hardware you already own, so a 10x10, 10x20, or island booth feels brand new without buying new frames. - Large-Format Graphics: Backwalls, hanging signs, towers, counters, and floor graphics that carry the concept and read clearly from the aisle. - Layout & Attendee Flow: Where people enter, what they see first, and where conversations happen, planned so the space invites people in. - Screen & Show Collateral: Looping screen content, sell sheets, and leave-behinds that extend the same concept beyond the booth walls. - Fabricator Coordination: We work with your exhibit house or fabricator on templates, specs, proofs, and deadlines so the concept arrives intact. Pricing: - 10x10 / 10x20 Graphics — $6K–$18K: Booth graphics designed to existing hardware templates, plus a basic leave-behind. - Island / Custom Environment — $18K–$50K: Larger footprints with custom layout, environmental graphics, and a full show collateral kit. - Show Program — Annual engagement: A reusable modular system designed across a full season of shows. - Note: Fabrication, shipping, and on-site labor are quoted by the exhibit house. Process: 1. Show and audience brief — We learn about the show, the attendees, your booth hardware, and what a good show looks like for you: leads, demos, meetings, or a launch. 2. Creative concept — We develop a few concept directions and show each one on your actual booth, so you can see how it will feel on the floor. 3. Design and refinement — The chosen concept is built out across every panel, sign, screen, and printed piece, designed to your fabricator's templates. 4. Fabricator handoff — We coordinate with your exhibit house on specs, color proofs, and deadlines, and give your team a simple setup reference. 5. Reuse for future shows — We adapt the concept for other booth sizes and future events so it keeps working all season. FAQ: - Q: Why does a creative concept matter for a trade show booth? A: Attendees pass hundreds of booths in a day. A clear, memorable idea is what makes them stop. Without one, even expensive hardware looks like every other booth in the aisle. - Q: Can you work with our existing booth? A: Yes. Most of our projects reskin hardware the client already owns. Send us your exhibit house's templates and we design the new concept to fit them exactly. - Q: Do you work with our fabricator or exhibit house? A: Yes. We work directly with your fabricator on templates, specs, proofs, and deadlines. If you don't have one, we can recommend a partner for fabrication, freight, and setup. - Q: What does trade show booth design include? A: Creative concept development, booth layout and attendee flow, large-format graphics for walls and signage, screen content, show collateral, and coordination with your fabricator. ### Local SEO Services URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/local-seo-services Scope: United States (remote) Local SEO for multi-location and service-area businesses. Pricing: - Audit + 12-Month Roadmap — $3,500: Month one: full audit across site, profiles, and citations, with a roadmap for months 2 through 12. - Momentum — $2K–$3K/mo: Steady monthly progress on your highest-priority pages and content. - Aggressive — $4K–$5K/mo: Faster execution and broader coverage: recommended in competitive service markets. - Note: A custom Looker Studio executive dashboard: GA4, Search Console, Google Business Profile, and call tracking in one page: is priced as a one-time build plus a small monthly maintenance fee. Optional add-ons include recruiting PPC, service-promotion PPC, and product/comparison pages for AI results. Nonprofit pricing available. Process: 1. Local Audit (weeks 1–2) — Profile audit across every location, competitor map pack analysis for your main terms, citation consistency check, and a review of existing location pages for duplication risk. 2. Profile Optimization (weeks 2–4) — Categories, services, products, attributes, hours, and photos corrected and completed, Q&A seeded with real customer questions, and the posting cadence started. 3. Page System Design (weeks 3–6) — A location and service-area page template with room for genuinely local content, structured data implemented, and internal linking that assigns each market to one owning page. 4. Content & Reviews (ongoing) — Market pages built out with real local substance at a sustainable pace, plus a running review generation and response process with your team. 5. Grid Measurement (monthly) — Visibility measured across a grid of points in your service area rather than from one location, alongside profile actions, calls, and organic conversions. FAQ: - Q: How much do local SEO services cost? A: Month one is a $3,500 audit and 12-month roadmap covering technical, on-site, off-site, GEO readiness, and NAP/citation consistency. Ongoing work runs at two tiers: Momentum at $2,000–$3,000/month, or Aggressive at $4,000–$5,000/month for faster execution and broader landing pages per city and service. Reporting is a custom Looker Studio dashboard, priced as a one-time build plus a small monthly fee. - Q: How long does local SEO take? A: Google Business Profile improvements can move map pack visibility within two to six weeks. It is the fastest-responding surface in search. Location pages competing in organic results typically take three to six months. Dense metros with entrenched competitors take longer than suburban or rural service areas. - Q: What actually determines map pack rankings? A: Google names three factors: relevance (does your profile match the search), distance (proximity to the searcher), and prominence (how well known and well reviewed you are). Distance you cannot change, which is why relevance and prominence: categories, services, reviews, and citations: are where the work goes. - Q: Do I need a separate page for every city I serve? A: No, and it is usually a mistake to try. Build pages for markets where you have real substance: work performed, local knowledge, service specifics, travel and coverage details. Eight substantive pages will outperform forty templated ones, and the templated approach risks the whole set being treated as scaled spam. ### Web Design Services URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/web-design-services Scope: United States (remote) Web design services from a senior-led studio: strategy, UX, visual design, and development in one team. Pricing: - Custom Marketing Site — $5K–$20K: A strategy-led custom site for companies outgrowing a template build. - Brand + Web — $20K–$75K: Identity and website designed as a single system: our most common engagement. - Platform & Commerce — $75K+: Configurators, portals, headless commerce, and integration-heavy builds. - Note: Nonprofit pricing available. Every proposal is fixed-fee. No hourly surprises. Process: 1. Discovery & Strategy (2–3 weeks) — Stakeholder interviews, analytics and search review, competitive teardown, and an agreed positioning statement plus the two or three metrics the project is accountable to. 2. Architecture & UX (2–3 weeks) — Content model, wireframes for every unique template, and conversion paths mapped end to end: resolved while changes are still cheap. 3. Design System (3–5 weeks) — Art direction, full designs for key templates, then extension into a documented system covering typography, color, spacing, components, states, and responsive behavior. 4. Build (4–10 weeks) — Hand-built front end, CMS modeled for your editors, integrations wired, accessibility pass, and Core Web Vitals measured against a budget on staging. 5. Launch & Iterate (ongoing) — Redirect mapping, analytics and consent configuration, launch monitoring, then structured 30- and 90-day reviews against the metrics agreed in discovery. FAQ: - Q: How much do web design services cost? A: Our engagements typically run $5,000–$20,000 for a custom marketing site, $20,000–$75,000 for combined brand and web, and $75,000+ for platform work with configurators or heavy integrations. E-commerce builds range from $15,000 for a clean Shopify theme build to $150,000+ for headless. Every scope is fixed-fee and quoted after a discovery call. - Q: How long does a website project take? A: Three to six months for a custom marketing site, four to seven months for brand and web together, and six months or more for platform work. The single largest variable is not our production speed. It is how quickly content and stakeholder decisions arrive on your side, which is why we schedule those explicitly. - Q: Do you work with clients outside Colorado? A: Yes. We are based in Lafayette, Colorado, and work with clients across the US and internationally. Our process was remote-fluent long before it was fashionable: recorded walkthroughs, async review cycles, and scheduled live sessions where they actually add value. - Q: What platforms and CMSs do you build on? A: WordPress, Shopify and Shopify Plus, Contentful, Sanity, and custom React stacks. We pick based on who edits the site, what it integrates with, and where you are going in three years, not on which platform we would prefer to sell you. ### ADA Website Compliance URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/ada-website-compliance Scope: United States (remote) A Department of Justice rule under Title II of the ADA requires state and local government websites and mobile apps to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Entities serving 50,000 or more people must comply by April 26, 2027; smaller entities and special districts by April 26, 2028. Hooten Design audits and remediates public-sector websites to meet the standard, starting with a free accessibility assessment. The DOJ Title II deadline requires state and local government websites to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. Audits, remediation, and a free accessibility assessment. Included services: - Accessibility Audits: A full WCAG 2.1 AA audit combining automated scanning with manual keyboard, screen reader, and zoom testing across your key templates and user flows. - Template & Component Remediation: We fix the design system itself: contrast, focus states, headings, landmarks, forms, and navigation, so fixes hold across every page. - Accessible Development: Semantic HTML, ARIA where it belongs, keyboard operability, and screen reader support built into the front end, not patched on after. - Accessible Design Systems: Color, type, and component standards that meet AA contrast and usability requirements while still looking like your brand. - Content & PDF Strategy: A practical plan for documents and content: what to remediate, what to convert to HTML, and what to archive under the rule's exceptions. - Monitoring & Training: Ongoing scans, regression checks, and training for the staff who publish content, so compliance survives the next redesign and the next hire. Pricing: - Free Assessment — $0: A no-obligation review of your site's accessibility posture. - Accessibility Audit — From $3,500: A full WCAG 2.1 AA audit with a prioritized remediation roadmap. - Remediation & Rebuild — Scoped from audit: Design and development work to bring the site into conformance. - Note: We are designers and engineers, not attorneys. We build conformant websites and document the work; your counsel advises on legal obligations. Process: 1. Free assessment — A review of your homepage, key templates, and highest-traffic flows. 2. Full audit — Automated scanning plus manual testing with a keyboard, screen reader, and zoom across representative pages, forms, and documents. 3. Prioritized roadmap — Issues ranked by user impact and legal risk, mapped to your templates and content types so fixes scale instead of multiplying. 4. Remediation — Design and development fixes to the design system, templates, and components, with content guidance for your team along the way. 5. Verify and monitor — Retesting against WCAG 2.1 AA, documentation of conformance, and a monitoring plan so new content does not quietly undo the work. FAQ: - Q: What is the ADA website compliance deadline? A: Under the Department of Justice Title II rule, state and local government entities serving 50,000 or more people must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA by April 26, 2027. Entities under 50,000 and special district governments have until April 26, 2028. Both dates were extended by one year in April 2026; the WCAG 2.1 AA standard itself did not change. - Q: Who does the Title II rule apply to? A: All state and local government entities: cities, counties, towns, special districts, public schools and universities, courts, police, and state agencies. It covers websites and mobile apps, including content delivered through third-party vendors. - Q: What does WCAG 2.1 Level AA actually require? A: Four principles: content must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. In practice that means sufficient color contrast, full keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, captioned video, labeled form fields, and predictable page structure, among about 50 success criteria. - Q: Can we just run an automated scanner? A: Scanners are a good start but catch only a fraction of issues, commonly estimated at 30 to 40 percent. They cannot judge whether alt text is meaningful, whether focus order makes sense, or whether a flow is usable with a keyboard. Real audits combine automated tools like axe, WAVE, and Lighthouse with manual testing. ### Landing Page Design Agency URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/landing-page-design-agency Scope: United States (remote) Hooten Design is a US landing page design agency that both designs and builds campaign pages. Engagements cover conversion strategy, custom design, hand-written front end code, and analytics and ad conversion tracking. Most single pages ship in one to three weeks. Landing page design and development for paid campaigns and product launches. Custom design, fast hand-built code, and conversion tracking wired in. Included services: - Offer & Conversion Strategy: We start with the offer, the audience, and the single action the page has to produce, then build the message hierarchy around it. - Custom Landing Page Design: Original desktop and mobile design in your brand system. - Front End Development: Hand written, accessible markup in React, Tailwind, or WordPress. - Speed & Core Web Vitals: Compressed modern images, minimal scripts, and a real performance budget so paid traffic does not bounce before the page paints. - Tracking & Measurement: Google Ads conversion tracking, GA4 events, form routing, and consent handling tested before the campaign spends a dollar. - Variants & Testing: Built so headlines, hero art, and offers can be swapped for A/B tests without rebuilding the page each time. Process: 1. Brief and offer review — A short working session on the campaign, the traffic source, the audience, the offer, and the one conversion the page is accountable for. 2. Design — Full desktop and mobile design in your brand system, with the copy structure and calls to action resolved rather than placeholder text. 3. Build and instrumentation — Hand coded build, forms connected, Google Ads and GA4 conversion tracking installed, accessibility and speed checked on staging. 4. Launch and iterate — Launch, then a review of real traffic behavior so headlines, layout, and offers can be adjusted while the campaign is running. FAQ: - Q: What does a landing page design agency actually do? A: Sets the conversion strategy, designs the page, writes or edits the page structure, builds it, and instruments it so results are measurable. We do all of that in one team, which is the difference between a page that looks good and a page that reports back. - Q: Do you build the page or just design it? A: Both. We hand off a live page, not a design file. Builds happen in React, plain HTML with Tailwind, or your WordPress theme, depending on who needs to edit it afterward. - Q: How much does landing page design cost? A: Single campaign pages are quoted fixed fee after a short scoping call, based on how much design, copy structure, and integration work is involved. Multi page campaign systems generally land in our $5,000–$20,000 site range. - Q: How long does it take? A: One to three weeks for a single page once the offer is settled. The usual holdup is not production speed, it is getting the offer, imagery, and approvals decided, which is why we resolve those in the first session. ### Impact Report Design URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/impact-report-design Scope: United States (remote) Hooten Design is an editorial design studio that produces impact reports for nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven brands. Work covers narrative strategy, data visualization, photography direction, print production, and an accessible digital edition. Most impact report projects run eight to fourteen weeks. Impact report design for nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven brands. Narrative strategy, data visualization, print production, and digital editions. Included services: - Narrative Strategy: Theme, throughline, section structure, and pacing agreed before design begins, so the report argues something instead of listing activities. - Data Visualization: Custom charts, infographics, and visualized program metrics and financials that a board member can absorb without a briefing. - Art Direction & Photography: Photography commissioning and editing, illustration direction, and the visual consistency that makes program stories feel real. - Print Design & Production: Full layout, paper and finishing recommendations, prepress, vendor coordination, and press checks we attend. - Digital & Interactive Editions: Scroll-based web versions, interactive data, and an accessible PDF so the report keeps working after the print run ships. - Brand Alignment: Reports designed inside your existing brand system, or used as the moment to evolve it. Process: 1. Narrative and scope — We settle the theme, section structure, page count, formats, and the hard deadline, usually a board meeting, gala, or grant cycle. 2. Content and data intake — We gather program metrics, financials, beneficiary stories, quotes, and photography, then flag what still needs writing or shooting. 3. Art direction and design — Two editorial directions using real content, then full layout of the chosen direction with custom data visualization and photo editing. 4. Review and approval — Two structured revision rounds with consolidated staff and board feedback, plus proofreading and a fact check against source documents. 5. Production and release — Prepress, vendor coordination, press check, accessible PDF, and the web or interactive edition. FAQ: - Q: What is an impact report? A: A report that shows what an organization's programs and funding actually accomplished over a period, usually combining outcome metrics, financials, and beneficiary stories. Funders increasingly expect one, and many organizations now publish it in place of a traditional annual report. - Q: What is the difference between an impact report and an annual report? A: An annual report is organized around the fiscal year and its governance and financial obligations. An impact report is organized around outcomes: what changed, for whom, and at what cost. Many organizations merge them into one publication, which we are happy to design either way. - Q: What does impact report design include? A: Narrative strategy, content and data intake, art direction and photography, custom data visualization, full layout, prepress and press supervision, an accessible PDF, and an optional web edition. - Q: How much does an impact report cost? A: Most report engagements run $8,000–$20,000 depending on length, photography needs, data visualization complexity, and whether a digital companion is included. Every proposal is fixed fee after a short scoping conversation. ### Sustainability Report Design URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/sustainability-report-design Scope: United States (remote) Hooten Design is an editorial design studio that designs sustainability and ESG reports for companies, foundations, and institutions. In Acrobat Pro, check the tags, title, language, and links, and test with a screen reader. A passing automated check alone does not establish ADA compliance. ### The ADA Website Deadline Is Coming: What State and Local Agencies Need to Know URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/ada-website-deadline State and local government websites must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA under the DOJ Title II rule: April 26, 2027 for entities serving 50,000+ people, April 26, 2028 for smaller entities and special districts. Start with an audit that combines automated tools like axe and WAVE with manual keyboard and screen reader testing, then remediate templates and design systems first. ### Nonprofit Websites That Build Trust & Drive Donations URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/nonprofit-website-design A nonprofit site earns donations when it loads fast, leads with a clear mission, makes giving frictionless, and proves impact. Pair a simple CMS your team can update with a modern fundraising platform like Givebutter, Donorbox, or Classy. ### Symmetry & Order URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/symmetry-and-order The brain prefers the simplest possible interpretation of what it sees. Symmetrical, ordered layouts feel trustworthy and load faster perceptually because the eye has less work to do. ### Small Agency vs. Large Agency: What Marketing Directors Actually Need URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/small-agency-vs-large-agency Large agencies bring scale and process; small agencies bring senior attention, speed, and accountability. Marketing directors increasingly pair the two, and choose a small agency outright when the work needs craft, ownership, and a direct line to the people doing it. ### The Law of Common Fate URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/the-law-of-common-fate Elements that move together are read as a single group. It is the strongest grouping cue the brain has, stronger than color, shape, or proximity. ### Figure & Ground URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/figure-and-ground Before the brain reads anything else on a screen, it decides what is the subject and what is the stage. Designing that decision is the difference between a clear interface and a noisy one. ### The Law of Closure URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/the-law-of-closure The mind completes shapes that are only suggested. Designers use closure to draw with less ink: logos, modals, progress rings, and dotted dividers all rely on it. ### AI Website Builders vs. Traditional CMS: What Marketing Directors Need to Know URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/ai-website-builders-vs-cms AI builders are fast for landing pages and prototypes, but break down on content scale, brand control, and integrations. Most marketing teams are quietly converging on a headless CMS plus AI-assisted production workflow. ### The Law of Continuity URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/the-law-of-continuity The eye follows continuous paths and resists abrupt breaks. Alignment, steppers, and content that peeks off the edge of a viewport all use continuity to guide attention. ### The Law of Similarity URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/the-law-of-similarity When elements share a visual quality — color, shape, size, texture — the brain reads them as the same kind of thing. Similarity is how interfaces communicate category without labels. ### The Law of Proximity URL: https://www.hootendesign.com/blog/the-law-of-proximity Things placed close together are read as related. Proximity is the cheapest, most powerful tool a designer has for creating structure without lines or labels.
